'Time Crisis 4' Producer: ""GunCon 3" Much Better Than Wii-Mote"

The Producer of 'Time Crisis 4' recently Talked about the "GunCon 3" which Comes Bundled with the PlayStation 3 Game. He was Asked if it was Similar to the Wii Sensor Bar and said it is Basically the Same, but the "Guncon's 3" LED Markers a Lot Better than the Wii Controller, while the Wii has just 2 LED Points, the "GunCon 3" has 6, so it will be a Lot more Accurate. Moreover he Stated that the PS3 will be Able to Recognize the Tilt of the "GunCon 3" and its Distance from the Screen, Something of which the Wii Cannot Handle.

    Quote:

"Is it similar to the sensor bar from the Wii ?

Basically it is the same, but GunCon 3's LED markers are actually much more accurate. Much better than Nintendo Wii's controller. In the Wii, there are only two LED points, but for the GunCon 3 there are six LED points, so it is more accurate than the Wii. The PlayStation 3 will be able to recognize the tilt of the GunCon 3, its distance from the monitor, and these things cannot be done with the Wii system.

So the gun has SIXAXIS capabilities as well ?

    Yes."

Japan: PS3 Outsells Wii In November

According to Figures from Publisher, 'Enterbrain', 'Sony' Shifted 183,217 PlayStation 3's During the 4 Weeks Ended, November 25, in Comparison to 159,193 Wii's, reports 'Reuters' :

Having Dominated the Gaming Hardware Market during the Previous Generation, Sony has Struggled to Establish its Next-Gen Console amidst Fierce Competition from 'Microsoft's' XBox 360 (in the US and Europe), which Launched a Year Prior to the PS3 and 'Nintendo's' Family-Friendly Wii, Both of which Have Built up Far Larger User Bases.

A Lack of a AAA Software and a High Price Point have Often Been Cited as Reasons for Slower-than-Expected Consumer Uptake of the PS3, although a Growing Software Library and Recent Price Cut, as well as the Introduction of an Entry-Level 40 GB Unit, Have Clearly aided Sales.

While the News that Sony Trumped its Rivals during November in Japan will be Welcomed by the Japanese Platform Holder, 'KBC Securities' Analyst, Hiroshi Kamide Questioned whether the PS3 Sales Momentum Could be Sustained.

"It's nice to see the system selling much better than six months ago. But is it a sustainable trend ? Is it going to really escalate from here ? I'm not so sure."

You Better be Sure, because the High-Profile AAA Quality Games for 'Sony' PS3's Next Year, will be Insane and Lots of Sales will Happen, my Analyst Friend !

Peter Molyneux, Says: "Gaming Industry Needs Fresh Blood"

In a Live Interview on 'EuroGamer', Famed 'Lionhead' Developer, Peter Molyneux, Noted that his Company and the Whole of the Industry Need Fresh Blood.

"We need graduates that are smart and passionate", he said, "so we try and take new graduates on based upon two criteria -- how smart they are and more importantly, how passionate they are. In my opinion, experience counts for less than those things".

The Lack of Qualified Graduates has Been in the News Lately, with some Developers Going so far as to Say that Current Game Courses are 5 Years out of Date. Noting that he Often Visits Universities Looking for People to Join his Company, Molyneux Went on to Say that People who Want to Get into Videogame Design Must be Good at 3 Things:

"Communication - You must be able to communicate, be persuasive, passionate. Balance - You must know when to push an idea through and when to let it go. Inspiration - You have to have the ability to inspire people who are working on a game. If you want to get into design", he continued, "don't expect to have a whole game that you have thought up implemented - just go for a single game feature".

'Security Assessment', Uses PlayStation 3 For High-Speed Password Hacks

Aside from Pushing Wicked-Looking Visuals on your Play-through of 'Resistance: Fall of Man', it Appears that the 'Sony' PlayStation 3's Picked up a Penchant for Cracking Codes as well.

This according to Security Researcher, Nick Breese of the Auckland-Based Group, 'Security Assessment', who Had Used the Console to Crack an 8-Character Password in just Hours. By Comparison, more Conventional Brute Force Attacks would Have Taken Days to Get the Same Result.

Breese Attributed the PS3's Code-Hacking Capabilities to its 'CELL' Processor which he Reported to be Capable of Achieving 1.4 Billion Cycles/s. By Comparison, a High-End 'Intel' Chip, Could Punch out 10-15 Million Cycles/s.

Breese Did Note that while the PlayStation 3 Could Make (relatively) Short Work of Eight-Character Passwords - the Sort Used to Protect Items such as 'PDF' and 'ZIP Files - more Elaborate Encryptions such as those Used by Web Transactions Can't be Hacked. Breese Presented his Findings Earlier this Month at the Kiwicon Security Conference.

'Kotaku' / '1UP' Impressions On 'The Orange Box' PS3

'Kotaku' has Posted their Impressions for the PlayStation 3 Version of The Orange Box, it's a Less Harsh Preview than '1UP's' One. It Looks like the Game do Have some Issues but it still Plays Quite Well:

"Now that all that frame rate and lighting nonsense is out of the way, how does The Orange Box play ? Quite well, actually. As a big fan of the Half-Life series, I'm willing to forgive the odd quibble, but wouldn't want anything to interfere with my experience. Episode Two, so far, has been great fun, exploring a handful of new mechanics and adding interesting set pieces to the series. Using the SIXAXIS for control works quite well, even if I'm not totally in tune with the default controller mapping. Normally, I play my VALVe games on the PC, as I have already done with Half-Life² : Episode One, PORTAL and Team Fortress 2, but I found the console version to be just as enjoyable."

'Warhawk's', "Operation: Omega Dawn" Pack Detailed

'Incognito's', Official Word on the New Pack Release for 'Warhawk' :

"The team and I really wanted the Omega Dawn booster pack to add a new gameplay experience and to enhance the replay value of the core Warhawk game", Jobe wrote. "Not be some nickel-and-dime upgrade that takes advantage of our player community !!!"

Sounds Good, right ? Trust us. It Gets Better. The "Omega Dawn" Pack Adds:

    - A night-time battlefield with six layouts called the "Omega Factory".
    - A new seven-player aircraft called the KT-424 Combat Dropship that is lined with turrets and can transport vehicles.
    - Five updated layouts for battlefields from the original game that will take advantage of the dropship.

The Dropship will also Act as a "Multiplayer BOSS". Jobe Wrote that a Team will Have to Work Together to Control the Beast and that's Going to Make the Opponents Work as a Team to Take Down the "BOSS".

As far as the New Level, Jobe Described the "Omega Factory" as "a bit more challenging and visually improved than our previous levels". It'll Have "more involved building layouts with more vertical structures, platforms and detailed spaces for ground troops". According to Jobe, the Level is Designed to Complement the Dropship and will Contain a Number of Places only Accessible by Air.

"We also added some macro scale color changes to the bases to help players communicate locations within the symmetrically balanced battlefield", Jobe said.

'Warhawk's', "Operation: Omega Dawn" is in the Final Global Test Phase now and on Track for a December Release and only Cost, $7.99.

'PC Perspective's', 'UT 3 PhysX' Review + Video

'PC Perspective' is Providing their Thoughts on the 'AGEIA's' PhysX Card and the Custom Maps that are Available for 'Unreal Tournament 3'. Overall their Impressions are Pretty Positive, but they Did Have some Concerns:

"The results here are very interesting -- the non-PhysX map performs more than twice as fast as the PhysX enabled map with the PhysX card. The Tornado map was still playable at those frame rates with the PPU, but taking the card out of the system slowed it down tremendously. With an average FPS of 12.1, playing on these maps without a PhysX card is just out of the question. Even with a PhysX card though, the performance was lower than we'd have hoped."

While it'll Certainly be Interesting to See Physics Implemented in a more Practical Way than has Been Done in the AGEIA Maps (i.e. as some Sort of Gameplay Aspect Rather than a Bunch of Crumbling Walls), it's certainly Difficult to Justify Buying Independent Hardware for Something that Doesn't Run Especially Well even with it. Like the PC Perspective Guys, I do Look Forward to Seeing What Sort of Modifications Emerge from this !

'Burnout Paradise's' Producer, Says: "We've Loved The PS3 From The Start, It Pays To Lead On The PS3"

'Burnout Paradise's', Producer, Nick Channon has Commented that the Team has Loved the PlayStation 3 from the Start and Feel Very Strongly that it is a Fantastic Machine. Historically the Company has Always Led on 'Sony' Platforms and they Didn't Want Things to be any Different with their Next Burnout Installment. He also Remarked that They've Had No Problems and the XBox 360 Version is Exactly the Same. So in that Respect, Leading with the PS3 Can Pay Dividends.

    Quote:

"Everyone seems to be leading on XBox 360. Why did you decide to make the PS3 your main SKU for Burnout ?

Channon: We've always led on the Sony platforms. Historically at Criterion we've always done that and we didn't want this year to be any different. We've always loved Sony machines and we've loved PS3 from the start, we think it's a fantastic machine. We felt very strongly about that.

So from the beginning we were always going to lead on PlayStation 3 and our transition between the two machines has been really seamless and straight-forward, where as other people have lead on 360 and found it hard to get on PS3.

We've had none of those problems. We really like XBox 360 and if you get the opportunity to play it the two versions are exactly the same. I think we've really reaped the benefits of leading on PS3 because of that."

"Sony hasn't disclosed the raw number of PlayStation 3 units it sold last week. (A Sony spokeswoman says it will give those numbers when NPD Group stats come out in mid-December.) The company did say that PlayStation 3 hardware sales were up 245 percent last week, when compared with the same week last year, among the top 10 North American retailers. This morning, Microsoft said the XBox 360 still outsold the PS3 two-to-one last week, according to "estimates from top retailers."

Update, 12:30 p.m.: Sony is disputing Microsoft's statement about the ratio of XBox 360 to PlayStation 3 sales. Here's what Kimberly Otzman, a Sony spokeswoman, said in an e-mail just now:

"It's (Sony Computer Entertainment America) policy not to disclose our unit sales numbers until NPD numbers are officially released which will be December 13th. However, I can assure you that Microsoft's estimates of our PlayStation 3 unit sales numbers are way off and they did not outsell PS3 2:1 during Black Friday week."

I've asked a Microsoft representative if the company wants to respond or check its numbers. The original post resumes below."

The Program also Removes the Additional System Modifications some Trojans Carry out which are Ignored by other Virus and Trojan Scanners.
